Using Kaplan Materials to Prepare for the MCCEE

Kaplan materials relevant to preparation for the MCCEE from the USMLE Step 1 program include the following:

  1. Physiology
    • Cardiovascular system
    • Respiratory system—mainly equations and graphs
    • Endocrinology
  2. Pathology—mainly for the slide interpretation
  3. Biochemistry—particularly enzymes
  4. Genetics—mainly DNA, RNA structures and mechanisms
  5. Biostatistics—especially for formulas and calculations
  6. Pharmacology—especially for drug side effects and interactions
  7. Behavioral Science—Videos here cover drug overdose issues well

For the clinical topics, Kaplan offers the USMLE Step 2 CK program to physicians taking the MCCEE. Combined with selected topics listed above from the Step 1 program, the review materials for Step 2 CK have been used successfully by many physicians.

Practice Opportunity
The MCC offers for purchase a booklet, published in 1994, containing 168 previously used multiple-choice questions. We recommend that you order a copy in order to further familiarize yourself with the content and format of this examination. There is no limit to the number of times an applicant may attempt to pass the CEE.
